This artwork presents my abstract interpretation of the discrimination experienced by gender non-conforming individuals.
At the core of this discrimination lies a desire to punish based on rigid stereotypes about gender identity, rooted in an oversimplified binary view of male and female or masculine and feminine.
The societal norms and expectations surrounding gender conformity play a significant role in the marginalization of gender non-conforming individuals. Numerous structures, institutions, and beliefs attempt to categorize people rigidly according to their assigned gender at birth.
When someone dares to break free from these constraints, they often face harassment to convince them to conform. These gender roles not only restrict personal freedom but also reduce individuals' lives to what society dictates they "should" be. This pressure forces people to act according to imposed expectations instead of allowing them to embrace and express their authentic selves.
