The desire to thrive and survive often shows itself through ritual; the small, repeated acts that steady us and give shape to our days. Rituals take many forms, but they share a purpose: to offer meaning and a place of refuge when life feels heavy.

My understanding of this collage came only after it was finished. The materials weren’t chosen with a plan; the choices were instinctive. Looking back, the piece evokes how ritual can become a shelter from the pressures of society, a space to step away, breathe, and gather oneself.

It lives in that space between instinct and reflection, survival and sanctuary.
