  • This work is intended to invite viewers to contemplate the layers of personal history and the complexity inherent in truly knowing another person. The inclusion of a barcode introduces a modern, thought-provoking element, symbolizing both identity and the potential for deeper understanding beyond surface appearances.

Additionally, in this work, the use of plastic bubble wrap serves as a powerful metaphor for the protective barriers that Black women must create to withstand oppression. The bubble wrap functions as a necessary shield against the harmful effects of racism, misogyny, and marginalization. It also evokes the sense of alienation that Black women may experience. The bubble wrap's thickness and dominance render the facial image obscured.

This artwork was conceived as an abstract visual statement on the strategies Black women employ to navigate a society that too often fails to understand their experiences.
