When I finished this artwork, I felt an indescribable bond with the image before me. Its narrative moves through me in ways that are inseparable from my experience as a Black person. I know that other Black viewers will bring their own histories, inheritances, and interior worlds to it—each encounter shaped by their lived truth. That is why I chose to leave the piece untitled: to allow every Black person who meets it the freedom to recognize their own story in its presence.
