  • The understanding of gender roles and identities is heavily influenced by cultural norms, societal conditioning, and personal experiences. This process commences at birth, marked by the assignment of colors—pink for girls and blue for boys. Individuals are systematically prompted to assume prescribed roles.

However, what of those who do not identify with society's expectations regarding masculinity or femininity? What about individuals who do not categorize themselves as either men or women?

Gender norms and roles are not only deeply embedded within cultural contexts but are often accepted as inherent, despite being social constructs. These norms serve specific societal functions: to categorize, restrict, and dictate behavior. It is essential to recognize and accept that what should be considered natural is individuals who are authentic to themselves, independent of societal expectations and constructs related to gender.

In the accompanying artwork, the collaged image depicts an individual exercising full agency in their existence. This person is confidently living an authentic life, as symbolized by the word "life." Additionally, the artificial satellite, Sputnik, serves as an abstract representation of society's dissemination of gender norms and roles, illustrating the pressures exerted upon those who resist conformity.
