The politics of visibility, autonomy, and self‑definition continue to guide my work. Lately, I’ve felt compelled to affirm the humanity of men who are punished for stepping outside the script. Society’s definition of “man” was never neutral; it was constructed and enforced.
This piece remains untitled. My intention was to acknowledge that existing as a human being has never been as uncomplicated as the world insists.
To push against rigid constructions of manhood, I collaged my favorite face of a Black man who appears confident and unbothered. The phrase People Notice symbolizes being seen for not fitting the mold.
